UPDATE: A new variation of using quick drying cement was emailed to us recently by Colin who lives in Shropshire. We have tried out this option and found that it works fine.

This option enables the Ballast Anchor to be filled with cement and gives that little extra weight. Weight approximately 50g (0.1 Ib)

Buy a small bag of quick drying cement from pour local DIY and mix with water so that its fairly runny. Pour into Ballast Anchor & leave to set by standing upside down for 10 min's. Ensure you have left the center fixing fully screwed in. Remove screw before cement is fully hardened.
This option enables a cement block of your own size to be attached to the Ballast Anchor. The size shown can weigh between 340g/450g (0.75 Ib to 1 Ib)
Find a suitable container and line with cling film. This container is the lid off a Ferro Rocher box of chocolates
Mix quick drying cement (10 minutes) into a runny constituency. Pour into cling film lined lid
Before sinking the Ballast Anchor into cement remove the center screw, this will ensure the cement fills the Ballast Anchor. When settled, replace the center screw ensuring its removed before the cement has fully set.
When set, clean the Ballast Anchor and settle into loose ballast. Cement thickness approximately 16mm (5/8")
Add track and extra ballast. This assembly will restrict movement in all directions and stops up and down track movement when trains pass.
