What’s
the basic difference between a Fleximount and a Ballast Anchor?
Fleximounts (£4.50) are attached
to a base i.e. a brick on average 4’-0 apart (1200mm)
When assembled with the track a permanent central axis exists in all
the planes around the whole garden railway route giving a 22mm height
from the fixed bases. Its sprung loaded (st st springs) giving a rotational
16mm diameter (5/8") float on the flat stainless steel base. Fleximounts
can either be locked or floating and can easily have the track attached
using the M4 fixing supplied. For more information go to Fleximount
Ballast Anchors (£1.25) is an empty Fleximount
with the same provision to attach the track using the M4 screw. They
are used in between Fleximounts at critical places where you might find
the track lifting or moving slightly when the trains pass. They just
anchor in the ballast and are not attached to a base. They can easily
be fitted retrospectively and additional plates or angles can easily
be attached if required to increase any damping effect. For more information
go to Ballast Anchor
